Is this some type of maple? Fairly common around here. Seems like it’s readily identifiable by its bark and color in most situations. Usually see it as a stand alone yard tree
Yeah, still learning a lot about ID. Tried watching some university type teachings but it seems like many preliminary courses (tree biology and anatomy) are required before using some of their ID techniques. I’ll look into the Norway maple. Thanks Jonny
They get a lot of hate, and they are an invasive species, but I I kinda like them. If trained early to be a single dominant stem they can be strong and pretty. Excellent firewood, a bit denser than other maples I think.
Just read about their unique abilities to out compete our native species. Interesting. I’ve got a few in the backyard wooded area. No reason to take em out. There is a magnificent specimen a few houses up from me. They have an American beech on the right side of the driveway and a Norway maple on the left. Both are very full. As wide as it is tall. They both have to be at least 50 years old. I’m always so tempted to climb then when walking by😂
