The official "Welcome New Members" thread!

Welcome clove hitch and treebogan! I think you will find everything you want here. And if you don't, just ask and people here will respond. Some of the best in the business hang out here and they're very generous sharing they're knowledge and experiences.

Don't be scared, we don't bite. Well, the monkey does but not hard.:D

I stand corrected the knot gal, Treebogan should have brought the pizza, but I believe someone forgot to inform him. That's OK we can just drink more beer. Welcome again.
See Ya
Mike

Hello again

I have been reading Tree Housers posts for 2 years now. I have with Butch's help reset a password. I love to read all of what gets posted as well as the forums. I was listed as the Arkansas Tree Teacher at the old web site. I have been a Climber/ Bucket Opp for 27 Years now Teaching the last 7 Years, I want to stay on top of whatever is New in Tree Work.I am still teaching the Urban Tree Worker trade at the Ouachita Job Corps outside of Hot Springs AR. Just wanted to say hello to all of you housers, I need to go back to the stuff I have not been able to show my students: This may not be the best place for this post but I needed to get started somewhere

Welcome back in this case, you sound like a busy man. Glad to have ya here.
See Ya
Mike

Welcome, Job Corps Tree ! Didn't Arkansas have a climbing championship a couple o' weeks ago ?

ITC

The Southern Chapter of the ISA had a Conference in Little Rock Arkansas. Our class could not go to that. We did get to go to the Arkansas Urban Forestry council meeting, We received the Volunteer Organization of the Year Award for the tree work we have done throughout Arkansas. That was a nice thing for our Center as well as for the Urban Tree Worker Trade. The only real conference or Trade Show that the Gov. and Job Corps will pay for is TCIA. in Nov.

Very cool stuff, JCT. Urban Forestry is a huge part of arboriculture, and an important one. I'd like to see a trade mag that focusses soley on this.
Good on your group for it's contribution.

Urban Tree Worker Trade

This trade has been going for 11 Years. Out of 122 JC centers across the US 6 have the UTW trade. Best kept secret in the Business. I do wish I had known when I was a working Foreman in Chicago. . Our Guys go our with a full set of gear and are ready to take the ISA's ( Certified Tree Worker/Climber Specialist test ). They can do it in 6 to 8 Months instead of 18 Months that the ISA calls for because of the training that ACRTinc/ Job Corps can provide. I have been here for 7 Years now and love it. To be able to pass on what I may have learned in the first 20 years of climbing, (not just what comes from the books) I to would like to a Trade magazine just for the Urban Climbers whether it is City Trimming or residential (back yard trees). O well back to the class. Our trainees go home for Summer break next Wed. for 2 weeks
