I've had the speedo/gauges cluster out of my 1st gen Tundra...nothing hard there. Been into the stereo console in the 2015 Subaru Forester...also pretty easy. Been deeper into the whole dash and all associated components than most smart folks would want to go with my 2000 Jaguar XKR.

It is not for the faint of heart, and for me anyway, research before starting is vital. Online fora, and youtube vids are a boon.

I took out the dash for my bud's fairly new Chevy pickup. Thing went dead. Found a place that refurbishes for a third of the price of a refurbished one. About two weeks total turnaround. He was happy.

Easier job than I thought. I dread problems with stupid things like push to start or electric tailgate latches. Going to stick with pre idiocy.

The worst are the heater a/c control doors/flaps. Underneath the dash and about impossible to get to. You have to stand on your head. Even figuring out how to operate a strange vehicles heat controls while driving is a challenge. The old 2 slides and a blower switch worked fine for me and you could run it without taking your eyes off the road.
