This car is just bad ass, a technological marvel!

But at $1.7 million, is it worth it?

Oddly, it was designed and built by Volkswagen, I kid you not! Purportedly it costs $5 million per car to make, they took the loss because it's likely to never happen again.
Then you get into operating costs, $30k for a set of tires, every 2500 miles, and $50k to change the wheels and tires, every 10k miles. Supposedly it's cheaper to take a jet than to drive this car!

I can't say that even if I had the money to buy and maintain the car, I don't think I would. Be fun as hell to get to drive one though!

It is the fastest street legal car in the world.. 267mph. It also has 10 radiators. If money wasn't a problem, your damn right that would be one of many toys... I really wanna trophy truck. :)

Here's a couple for you Andy:

I'd seen both of those episodes Paul, and the one they raced a Cessna plane across the UK, I thin France to Germany?

I guess you don't need to be smart to be rich anymore?

I dont like it. Fat, heavy, overcomplicated and fearsomely expensive.

Here are 2 much better cars (british built too!) that trounce it. The first, a Caterham R500, the second an Ultima GT (chevrolet powered8))
The first vid is a timed lap of the Veyron, then the two others round the same track...
The Ultima is my favourite - and the winning combination of reliable US powerplant in a British built chassis

You're missing the point, Ed.

Fat, heavy, overcomplicated and fearsomely expensive is what it was meant to be.

There is no doubt in my mind that old Ettore would have loved seing his name in this car, it's right up his alley.

Fat, Heavy, overcomplicated and fearsomely expensive fits the type 41 just as well!

+1 Stig. The Veyron wasn't designed to be the fastest round atrack but a GT car for hammering across Europe. I wouldn't want to do a cross Europe blast in the Ultima let alone the Caterham.
