John and I removed 4 willows about 3 or 4 months ago. It wasn’t our native black willow but I’m not sure of the exact species. I always hear about their refusal to die on this forum but when I saw this …….. The stuff is growing from the wood pile ! It’s been split for at least 2 months and it’s still not dead! Most of the pieces looked like this!

we had alders grow from cut logs as a kid.

I’ve heard the huge salt cedars I’ve been cutting grew from fence posts or the like.

Doesn’t surprise me…cracks have roots in them. So weird.
