I had one on the bridge of my saddle for a while. Wasn't worth it for me. I think it's a natural inclination for many of us to try it, and I think many of us find that it doesn't do anything worth keeping.

Tell us what you think, though!

Swivels work really well for doing a double tie in. It is really a treat to work a decurrent tree or a double tie in between two trees and to be able to spin below your swivel without everything getting tangled up.

Other than that one use, I prefer not using one.

I just don't trust them. I know its rated and all that, but to me it looks like a weak link. And I don't want to be climbing with the thought that a critical component might fail.

Ditto. ...but I've never gotten up the gusto to actually buy one.

I've tried one and didn't find it to be all that useful. If I had more problems with my line getting twisted above me then it might be a good idea. But since I don't have those problems, I don't bother with one.

Thanks for the replies. Like I said, if I don't find a use for it I will just sell it.

There was a time when I ran two friction hitches...drove Carl NUTS and Frans saw it and was afraid that OSHA might start requiring it.

I was trying out new knots and hitch cords and the swivel helped with that process...used one I trusted while the new setup got adjusted.

Gary - you are a one-of-a-kind type of guy. I've never seen anything like that before in my life.

You could probably fit one more friction hitch in there if you put it on the right side D ring:D

Burnham's right...I be borned this way...:whine:

Nah, it's all good...if I can't inject a little incredulity into you guys once in awhile then what good am I?

(and Stig...there actually IS another hitch on my right D ring...a distel that controls my lanyard length...but don't tell anybody, please ;) )

im with ya there. ive got a petzt red and black one. i really like it but it freaks me the ****out!

I had(have) one on my bridge that I used a few times. Did not like it and now use it for the times I may need to double tie in. I find that using the end of my rope tied into it helps get to those points above my head and original tie-in point.

I take it that the swivel is just a spacer at the moment.:?
