Since it was insured and I was paid for the loss, it's not even MY chipper; it belongs to the insurance company. The police have impounded it, now its up to the insurance company to follow up with investigating and prosecuting the guilty parties.

"Reclaiming" it was a bad idea no matter how you look at it. I'm sure you macho men who suggested that were just kidding, or maybe not. To do that, especially with guns and a posse, would be just plain stupid. Silly nergoes. Guess who would end up in jail, or worse.

Treehouse machismo has a habit of running wild, sometimes:lol:

I didn't realize you had been paid off already. At that point you are stuck other than telling your insurance. Had you still owned it i don't see why you couldn't just repo it. Guns would obviously be a bad idea.

I bet that Islamic law has a speedy effect on thieves asking for forgiveness. It's not like hands are so easily replaceable.

Actually, I was completely serious. I probably would have "stolen" it while he wasn't there, just to avoid the potential bullshit after I empty a few mags, but I most definitely would have hooked that sucker.

I'm weird, too. If i find something that belongs to me, I WILL get it back.

Even so, that wouldn't be such a smart thing to do. The current "owner" would accuse you of theft. (He may have purchased it not knowing it had been stolen in the first place). You'd end up in jail until you could prove that it was yours. You also trespassed to take possession of it. Even in the best case scenario, it would be an ugly ordeal.

Edit: So, why do nearly all posts add an extra word on the second line. Or is it just me?

Hey, keep all your rational mumbo jumbo to yourself. If I guy wants to bluster from the safety of his computer about taking back what's rightfully his, details and laws be damned!

Pussy.

Come take something of mine and see if I step away from the computer long enough to frig you up. I'm daring you.

Lol, this thread is awesome!

I'm with Erik though, sometimes a man's just gotta do what a man's gotta do!!!!

Lol, just trying for my own poem. Western theme please Darin I am a cowboy now, with a horse and a farm.

Damn Darin, that was good! VERY good, I'm impressed!
I'm thinking, without the getting paid by insurance part, I'd have called a couple of buddies, receipt in hand for the purchase, and done some midnight recovery. Cop wants to jack with me, here's the proof it's mine, where's his proof? Also if it were reported stolen, you would have a case number and a contact officer, at least you do here. That's enough proof of ownership and possession is 9/10's of the law.

Seems like frequently tree people have guns as an interest.

What says you get the first shot off?

Could be a case of the guy bought a stolen chipper (known or unknown to him). Defends what is his. Could be the guy's a criminal, and as such is in the category of people most likely to shoot another person.

If only bravery was bulletproof.
