Does anyone know anything about them? I am just researching our next chipper and I am just wondering if these are any good.

The only dealer support we have remotely close is Vermeer and Morbark. Based on my dealings with the local Morbark place, there is not a snowball chance in hell that we will get one of those. That that means Vermeer or buy one without close dealer support. So I am looking into that option. We were looking fairly seriously at a Bandit 200 but then the salesman that we were dealing with literally disappeared. Not sure what happened there but I contacted Bandit twice with not response. So they are out.

I wondered if there wouldn't be dealer support.

My chipper is so old that Wayne/ FMC doesn't seem to be making chippers anymore, unless its possibly under a different name. Its simple and so I have been able to get buy without dealer support. Vermeer put in a new clutch and did some tuning up, and otherwise its been in-house or experienced auto mechanics, as my chipper has the industrial version of the Chrysler 318.

Since you don't have a loader (right?), a winch would be super useful on a chipper that size.

No loader yet.... Maybe soon but that's a different thread. I am not so sure if dealer support is too important for us. We have our backup cnd that we will be keeping and there is no support for that one either. I also ran a Gravely for several years with no support. We had several issues with that and we always figured it out locally.

I will not rule a chipper out only because no local support. I hate being "forced" into a northern Vermeer because they are local. That being said, Vermeers customer support here is great, but if one or two employees leave, who knows.

Where and what have your heard about the Salsco? I saw it advertised in TCIA Magazine recently, but that's all I know.

Having a back-up and comfort without dealer support opens you up to a lot of options.

A good relationship with a closeby dealer is always good. When I owned my morbark, the dealer was about 1 mile from my house. If I ever had problems with my chipper and they needed to fix it (which was rarely), they always had a demo / loaner unit for me to use, no questions asked.

All I know about Salsco is what they have on their Web site. I thought I remember someone over the years posting about them and said they were good.

Close by, good support, is the best selling point has when it comes to the BC1000. I am just not impressed with that chipper.

I wish we could look at that machine but it's too big and too much for us. We are trying to lighten up a bit and as always, money is a big factor. $35k is about as much as I want to spend.

I'm in the market. Due to the state of CA being so strict, there is a good chance that our chipper might be new or just a couple few years old. I've got the team researching vermeer, brush bandit, conehead, dosko (that what our rental is). I'll add Salsco to the list!

I think it'll be in my interested to stay under 50hp. Honestly, we don't need more than that and there's govt crap that makes having anything bigger expensive. Worth it if you will regularly use the power, but we won't, so I'd rather avoid it all together. The one we rent now is only 30hp, so 50 would be a HUGE increase for us!

I have my fingers crossed that by the time it's all said and done, we end up with a con head 310 attached to the back of our truck.

love

Nick, you can get the 810 with a 70 hp gasser from Salsco. That would be an 8"x13" indeed opening.... If I recall correctly. That would be a real nice upgrade from what you have now.
