Usually or at least in the applications I've seen the fan is reversable to keep the heat off the operator .Try running an old dozer some time in 90 degree heat .That old machine can take a lot more heat than you can .

Come cold weather you pull the pins and shift the fan ,canvas the engine compartment and use the heat to keep from freezing . It can be zero outside but you're snug as a bug in a rug with just part of your head sticking out .:)
 
You have to use some discretion using a power washer .I have one that will strip morter joints on the narrow nozzle

A place I worked at about 15 years ago, we had a 4 or 5 horsepower Honda engined pressure washer, that thing would break up asphalt. I shrug my shoulders at the $89 electric jobbies from the dept store, no guts at all! At least not the ones I have had to use, I am sure there are big models that have some gusto.
