My favorite story we heard is about a couple kids that went and camped out... Cooked some hot dogs over the fire on some sticks they picked out of the woods... Bout killed them.. Turned out they had poison oak sticks...:|:

Never seen poison oak sticks before.

Stephen, Glad that you had no reaction.
FWIW, There is a tree in Botswana that the Batswana use for roof support poles on rondavels because the termites will not eat it.......but if a person get the sap in his/her eye they get pain swelling and temporary blindness. The cure is to squirt milk in the eye. Specifically, mother's milk is the preferred treatment. Relief comes within minutes.

Once the leaves fall off in the Fall... All you have is sticks till spring... Stuff becomes real brittle dormant or once dead. Wood Rats will built nests out of the sticks as will some birds....
First pic a small stand in my yard... We have mostly killed all of it on our property.
Second pic... I just broke one off with my fingers... pretty brittle dormant.
Third pic...Took off the small twigs and ya gotta stick.
Forth and Fifth pics are some dead sticks still at the base of the tree where the stand was stripped out..
We have cut up to 4"-5" stalks to the vines that will run up the entire tree.
Other times it is in stands like shrubs...

I've never in my life seen poison ivy growing like that, as a bush. It's ALWAYS been a vine wrapping around something. Imma thinking there just might be different species of PI.

That was poison oak not ivy... only PI that I ever got into was mostly like ground cover... Few vines... but that was in KS
Poison Oak will vine up trees like PI and if left to it.. will not only about shade a tree to death.. but get so heavy the tree just breaks.

Luckily we don't have poison ivy or poison oak in Hawaii.

A few years ago when I was walking through the woods at my brother's house in Ohio, some vines were in our way. I grabbed and pulled them down and pushed them out of our way. My brother told me that was poison ivy but I probably won't get a reaction since it doesn't bother him. Nothing happened to me. Maybe peeling and eating and trimming all these mango trees made me immune.

Should I go see a doctor? I rarely get sick too. Maybe something is wrong and I don't know about it. Now you got me worried.

I think I must've gotten into poison oak when I was in the Sierras once. I don't generally react to PI but I came back from a packing trip in King's Canyon with a wicked rash on my legs.

Wesley, You peel and eat Mango trees? Wow. I knew you were tough but now I'm skeered. I think you may have bigger problems than autoimmune eccentricity. :P

we have poison oak like stephen showed, some much bigger as im sure he does to. ive never seen poison oak, weather shrubs or vines bigger than in frans neck of the woods. shrubs 15' square and vines 2" diameter!

i give poison oak to my family frequently,
nobody but my crew ususes the camper anymore, cause its on everything in it, and ive cleaned it a time or 2
when the kids run out to hug me they stop and ask ...do you have poison oak?
my wife wont touch my laundry anymore, she got it on her legs and it went up a bit too far, had to go to the hospital for a shot
i laugh cause...i dont get it..ha ha ah ha

Sounds kinda of like our house tree guy... Poor Katy ... She cant ride in the truck, sit in certain chairs.. laundry sux...
Kids don't get it too bad so far...
Rob and I don't get it and the help won't be hired unless they have some resistance and common sense.... ;)

Frig it all to heck anyways. One side, Westside, of our biggest lake here(Okanagan Lake) has poison ivy all frigging over it!!!! I'm almost thinking of refusing to work over there. Got a minor dose of it going on on my shins/back of my knees again. I'm well versed on the dealings due to my ordeal last year. Nothing nearly as bad as that but still man what a pita to feel that damn itchy!!!
