Blasted flippy caps...picked up my 260 to cut some limbs on the ground, checked the gas, put the cap back on...I THOUGHT! Several of my caps are a bit stiff lately...

Owwwww. oww, oww!...gas spill down my hip, DID it sting! I had to nip behind the bushes with a bottle of water and a towel, I can't imagine the pain if a guy gets it on the goolies!!!!:O:O

Really??? wow, I have spilled it on myself, just stinks, doesn't hurt ;) must be your 'girl-skin"

I've spilled it on my hands/arms....maybe thigh....no burns or pain (just stink), but never on my hip. That's some pretty tender skin right there.

Hope it's better now.

Buy a new cap, and make sure you line it up before you flip the black part down. if the cap isent all the way turned in and you flip the black flippy thingy down it messes up the ears that hold it in and your wearing gas.

Mine always stick when trying to open or close them. I think the ethanol swells the rubber o ring and makes them difficult to turn. Sometimes I have to keep twisting the cap back and forth several times before it wants to turn clockwise far enough to flip the top down into the closed position. Don't force them because they break too easy.

Another vote for despising those stupid caps!

buy a new cap and pay attention not to over fill. also make sure you have it in right before you flip it.

I hate those stupid caps, i had a long talk with the cincinnati rep from stihl the other day. I have been through about 3 of them in the past 6 months, he gave me new ones. But i still think i am going to change brands to husky.

I've had that happen a few times, it did burn once. I don't remember what supplier the gas was from but it sure did smart!

Thats a petty problum to me. I have three sthils and I don't have that problum. My boss did with our four 200ts. I toldhim to buy new caps, and we stressed to the groundies to put them on right. now all the 200s are fine......for now.

Although they can be a pain at times, I've yet to replace one. My oldest saw with them is about about 4 years old with original rubber o-ring.

What are you doing to them that's making them break, Nick?

Ahh, for the first time i'm dissapointed:P
I have only replaced one on all my saws

Hmmm five dollar cap equals 3000 dollars in saws. Makes sense. Just like me spending 212 and change on a helmet that might or will fall apart on me.

Its more than just a five dollar cap, its the fact that you have to take time out of the day to get them to close. In addition if one breaks on the job, and if you dont have one with you, you will have to take more time out of your day to go and get one. Dont think that ever happens? It has happened to me two times.

When I worked for the Forest Service, I got spilled on a few times hiking with a saw on my shoulder. The old gas tank breather vents on the 044s were problematic at best. I had to waste a dearly needed quart of water down my back.

haha i cant wait for that new husky climbing saw to come out!

Blaspheme!

The old screw ons would get screwdriver holes in them from guys that didn't put them on/off properly too;)

I always put them on finger tight and never had a problem. It was when guys used a scrunch and horked on them too hard.
