OK go ahead and laugh at my Poulan

Isn't it weird that most small to midsize saws didn't have bucking dogs back then? I remember the first time I saw a Stihl 020T and was surprised by the steel dogs. These days you just expect the dogs to be there on every saw.

This saw is a Jonsered design. The saws are really great IMO.
I have a Partner 710, same family of saws and it is a beast to go...

Guy in TX sent me pics of the Partner 395 exact same saw in yellow. Well almost, I just noticed his P 395 has a chain brake on the clutch cover.

I see by that bottom pic it has a spring suspension system .Similar to the Craftsman/Poulan I have .

The thing actually does pretty well considereing what it is .Not really a bad little firewooder if the stuff isn't too large .

It has some problems though that I've not taken the time to decipher .For one though it had an air scoop gizmo like a Huskey that I thought it didn't need but evidently it does .Heats up a tad bit .

To clarify my last post I meant the 415 Poulan is same family as the 710 I have.m I like these very much!

I need to clarify for you now too. Partner 395 is same as Poulan 2100.

I never heard or seen of a poulan 395 yet, but then again I never heard of a 2100 till this week.

Any of you older guys run these 65cc poulans? Just picked up a poulan 4000 to check out for myself on some trading.
All I can tell so far is open port design from looking at cylinder pics posted in the past on the web.

I never seem to find any Poulans except the clam shell designs llke sold by Sears .There's the two s-25 but I'm not going to mess with them but they do have removable cylinders .

I think I had one many years ago that looked something like that. I want to say a 3700? Maybe 4400? But then I bought my first Stihl, an 038 Mag, and never used the Poulan again. I don't remember what happened to it but it was gone within 30 days of me buying the Stihl.

Took in a couple more of them poulans Poulan 505 82cc and 365 65cc and a odd ball John Deere 800V 80cc, which turns out to be a Echo 8000 in yellow. Goooo Echoooo

If these 2 80cc saws pan out, I might cut my woods ported 066 loose. I have posted pics of it here before if someone is interested.

Ones I need to go through and check over before putting up on the shelves.

Just thawing out here and getting good and muddy.

I know I am going to like it after the test run before putting it up for winter. I almost pulled it out of hibernation when a ice storm was coming in.

Oh you can't imagine mud unless you've seen Ohio mud at certain times .The rich organic top soil will mire down just about anything if conditions are right .

Fact on my way home from work Monday I saw an old 3020 John-Deere sunk up to the axle .

I just called for 3-4 truck loads at 14 ton apiece of 57 limestone for my driveway. It's getting that bad with all this rain BS.
