My road trip.

Someone wants to come! Not this time though.

!!! How could you deny the old boy??!!??

Great pic. Hilarious the way pets sense when a ride or trip is in the offing.

Mick, thanks for the map, it helps me get a sense of where you are compared to London. Please share some pictures of the town.

No French accent here.

Probably not in order but you’ll figure it out.

A few on today’s travels.
A herd of white deer on the surrey hills in Hascombe.
A very affluent area, stunning houses hidden away around every corner.

Rudgwick playing Fields where me and my mates were legends in our own minds playing football and cricket against other villages.

Two pictures of the Wey and Arun canal, built in 17hundred and something and the primary way to move goods around the country before the coming of the railways. This took them out of use quickly, they fell into disrepair for well over a hundred years, till a few decades ago a band of enthusiasts began buying and renovating it.
One picture is of a section as yet untouched with a red algae on it. Second is a recently done section with new lock and brickwork.

Quick cup of tea with my BIL and SIL, chewing over yesterday’s funeral. Huge turnout, a good send off.

The house is from the 1600s apparently.
The hanging tiles are common hereabouts.

Now you’ll have to indulge me a bit here..

The two wall pictures, one closer, the other from a distance, you can make out, halfway down, a faint imprint of a child’s hand. Mine of course.

I was walking along that road on my way back from school in 73ish with my mate.
This wall was being plastered at the time, and kids being kids I pressed my right hand into the wet cement, which got me a punch in the arm from the builder. I remember it very well.

Now for one reason or another he didn’t skim it over and it stayed there, I always check it out when I’m in the town.

The other is of The Causeway an old historic road in Horsham and the last is the building which was my first place of work. A corn and seed merchants which is now swanky offices, note the hoist beam coming out of the building (now called the corn store) left for originality.
We used it to get the large bags of grain etc. directly off the lorry to the upper stores.

Cool how you left your mark, Mick.

I remember the sacred piece of wet cement or concrete waiting for my initials to be carved in.
Oddly, I've never done that. Thinking back, I can't ever recall writing my initials or putting a handprint in wet concrete as a child, although I can remember a dozen or more opportunities. Maybe I didn't like to get my hands dirty or was afraid it wouldn't wash off...

I just fought the urge the other day at the mill. A cement repair was done and all taped off. At first I thought about putting my initial in, but was worried I'd get in trouble. So then I thought about putting someone else's initials so they'd get in trouble. But didn't. A coworker suggested I tea bag it, but I passed on that too. :D
