Yeah ? heck Willie next time we have a climb and it's an over niter...bring the guitar. I love playing

My dad has a old Rickenbacker and an ancient stratocaster. I've been formally trained in piana, saxophone, and guitar. Most of my family plays live music, gigs and whatknot. I'm kind of the blacksheep that way. I almost went to university on a scholarship for my saxophony but in the end I was a wild youth and chose the path of most resistance.

I love live music.

Ya know Squisher my mom wanted me to pursue music as a major, but I told her that would take all the enjoyment out of it for me. So, I just have fun. Like and try to play verything although, i dont always succeed....lol

Thought so man...Is that a Flexor II solid state? I cant quite read the name on the amp.

I played tenor saxophone for 8 years through school and also performed solos in soprano, my dad has taught private music lessons all my life. I played solos for schools in Newfoundland that had never seen a live big band before. 500 kids k-12 with a standing ovation begging for more. It'd bring tears to your eyes, atleast it did for me. I had recitals lined up for the UBC music program but wussed out in the end. I gradded at 17 and everything seemed to happen just a little to fast for me.

No regrets, the saw is my instrument now.:)

I never mind teaching if I can help someone

I left the music scene as I felt like a fake. I can read/play music like a mofo but I had a hard time 'ad libbing' I could play a little bit of variation off of a cord or whatknot but I felt at the time anyways that I had nothing original to offer. I don't know that it's something that I could ever fall back on, but I will teach my daughter atleast the basics about the mathematics of music. I may play live again some day but I dunno. My uncle who works for me drums atleast a few times a month with jams/gigs and whatnot. My dad plays atleast once a month live. Nothing that brings any kind of money, just entertaining.

I hear what you're saying Steve and it's appreciated, atleast a couple of times a year I break out my tenor sax and rip some scales but I just haven't felt motivated to get back into it.

Probably, I've played my sax for her and at four she can pound a little chopsticks on the piana, kinda. She's been exposed to alot of live music in her time so far. She seems to like it.

It's funny Squisher, my wife is in the same boat as you. She can read music very well and used to play the flute but, when her and i would try to play together, it was a disaster. If she didnt have the sheet music, it was all over. On the other hand, I'm the oposite, I cant read didly and play solely by ear with a few lessons here and there just to get me out of the flat mode one gets in when playing to much by yourself.

So, like Stehansen said, dont beat yourself up to much. People are just musically talented in different ways and sometimes thats what makes it fun.

That's what I'm talking about. By the 'height' of my musical career I could play along and ad lib. But I felt that I had nothing unique to offer myself. I played alot of blues and jazz as my preference. I obviously also played alot of big band music.

Not exactly 'rocking' by a young mans standards.
