Nah, just kidding. I'm happy to show you anytime.

It's the Victor Out O'Site that I use. I tried the plunger style for a year, but finally tossed it in the garbage. I've had numerous conversations with Victor about designing a smaller Out O'Site for the juveniles, but they just had an I Don't Care attitude. Then, a few years ago they cheapened the model by using a lower grade steel and a thinner gauge. Two broke. They gladly replaced them, but when I offered to send in the broken ones to examine, they had the same crummy attitude. So if my cat can't get the little ones, I have to wait several weeks till they "grow up," meanwhile wrecking havoc in the yard.

There are lots of videos and everyone has their own technique. More than one way to skin a cat, so to speak. For example, in that video, I don't cover the trap. Tried it both ways, makes no difference. I put up a little landscape flag so I can tell from a distance if I have a taker. I know moles have a good sense of smell so I wear medical gloves to help minimize my scent.

Thanks much, Bob. I'd have to cover a trap some way, to keep pupdog Jasper from messing with it. I'm thinking I'm going to try the Trapline Gophenator trap, seems less likely to hang up the jaws in soil/stones/roots, and is much smaller. Down side is it only kills from one travel direction, so it takes a pair in each setting.

Good point about the dog. Actually, I wonder if the staked-down cover would help keep the mole from digging back into the hole that you just dug to set the trap. They sometimes do that, and you get the feeling that they are just messin' with you. I like the idea of stainless steel. Haven't tried the gophenator specifically, but did try something like it 5 years ago. This one looks like a better design.

They run about $20.00 locally here. The Master Gardeners turned everyone here onto them and the local True Value started stocking them. Bees knees for gophers. I don't know about moles yet though.

They also claim if you get rid of the grubs they eat you get rid of the moles .

My ex wife had a big grey Tom cat that would dig them up,dispatch them then pile them on the front porch like cord wood .He did the same with snakes .Other than that he was worthless and grumpy .
