Changed 4 light bulbs. I'm not sure if I like the Distel, it bites like a bastard on the 3/8" rope and it's hard to make shorter.

Sounds like your lanyard and the hitch cord are incompatible with the distal...it's like any other friction hitch that way, gotta be tuned to both host line and hitch cord.

No duh, huh?

Yep the Distel definitely bites harder than a VT, I don't like it for a climbing hitch. But you can play with different cord diameters and maybe get a smoother action from it.

The thing about a mech is, it's hard to adjust under tension unless it's like the Cinch or a Grigri.

Dur, I didn't even think of that. I might even put it back on a carabiner, and put a real slack tender in there. Although I don't like the clang of an extra biner.

Micro and Macro here.. I deal with pitch a lot.. Bull pines will gum up your lanyard toot sweet. The macro adjusts easier than the micro, just a leverage thing I think cause of the size. Macro sprind easily replaced as it is a cable on my Petzel. Nuttin to it.

Here's a picture of my lanyard distel/pulley-tender setup...

How do those do with sap in them? I have a Petzl Grillion, but even with 11mm line, it's still tight to pull slack through. ...and forget it with sap on the rope! I'm still searching for one that I don't have to swap out every time I do a sap wood tree removal. I just use my gibbs for pitchy removals, grillion for hardwood climbs.

I find the Petzl micro- and macro-justers handle pitch real well.
