My rubber tubing on the bigshot snapped at the pouch attachement yesterday. Any of you guys figured out a source for the tubing an a way to attach it yet, short of the $25 replacement from Sherrill.....

I for 1 cannt work without 1...

You can try surgical tubing, it's not as heavy but 25 from sherrill doesn't seem to bad.

Yeah $25 aint too bad but Im a cheap SOB and I know that 4' of that tube doesnt cost much. Im going to check McmasterCarr.........

MB you working too hard if you only use it once a year;) Look at me acting like I know something:lol:

M-C is high on some things and not so high on others ,just depends .

Examples : The carbon filters I use on my water system can be purchased for about a third of the cost of what local would be . The craytex I use when I tweek a saw are about 25 cents a pop verses a couple bucks else where .

M-C has been an awesome resource for the developement of the Wraptor. They have about anything you can think of and it will be on your doorstep next day:) 1' of 6061 aluminum 5" round cost $95 where I just bought it for $35 from another source. But when you are brainstorming and want to just try something out they are the place to go. Man you wouldnt believe the amount of time I spend trying to source random BS

Hey Al heres one for ya. I need some 10-32 button head grade 8 or better screws 1 1/2" under-head that are US made. Ive found them as imports but Ive had people tell me not to trust imports when it matters. In this case it really matters!

Let me know when youve found them:lol:

If you just need a few I can send them to you .If you need a bunch do a Google for "hollochrome " I think they are all domestic made .

Correction ,that is Holo Chrome .However I see what you mean as they only list 10-32 in either button head or low head in lengths up to 1 inch .That sucks . I don't suppose a regular sock head would work ?

Maybe I spoke too soon . According to the web site these are in fact US made http://www.boltdepot.com/product.aspx?cc=13&cs=72&cm=25&cd=1221

HAH! I just bought a couple of those (10-32, 1" long, allen head) the day before yesterday at Home Depot. I got them in stainless, figured that would be stronger than standard. Needed it for the lever on my material handler. Sorry, didn't look to see where they were made.

Good find Al. Next question is as they will be used on the ascender they may be exposed to the elements should I go with a stainless or grade8 chromed?? These bolts are being threaded into 3/4 inch 6061 alluminum.

Consider the reactivity of the metals. Stainless often galls, and doesn't like to be removed from some metals.

I know I need to worry bout the reactivity which is why I mentiond its going into Alluminum. I just dont know that stuff yet, need to look it up I guess or I was hoping NETree would chime in here if he could pry his lips off that bottle for a moment:lol::lol::lol:

I have seen aluminium bolt hangers react with steel bolts.....but they are exposed to years of rain and shit.....they crumbled by hand. I doubt it would be and issue with the wraptor though

Brian, often those stainless bolts (hardware store, home depot, etc) are grade 5 or softer. The wraptor needs a bit more than that

Stainless steel is way over rated . Grade 8 steel will work just fine ,coat them with never -seeze or Kopper-kote and get them tight . On aluminum you need around 4 times the bolts diameter as far as thread engagement to achieve full strength and prevent thread failure .

Tid bit : On steel it's around 1 times the bolt daimeter, cast iron 1.5 to 2 and aluminum 3.5 to 4 . Most important , torque the fastener to it's full torque value . Loose bolts fail more often that properly tightened ones .

I'd go with 302 or 304 SS, myself.

I refuse to part with it, bro. :D

And on the Big Shot, just buy the kit from Sherrill. Although the newer pouches sure look crappy compared to my old style pouch.

One question does remain concerning the big shot that lost it's rubber .

Did that thing bust in two and smack you in the snozzoola ? :O
