Awesome Brian! I've been listening to that song for 30-some years and never did know the lyrics. ha

I don't want to derail this thread but how are folks liking those Kask helmets with the visors. They look cool and I want one, I just haven't been able justify the expense yet.

I believe they have no suspension, only have foam for protection. In this case you might as well wear a ball cap doing treework.
Husqvarna sells a real nice arborist helmet with a extra short brim and has a good safe 6 point suspension. I have a similar Husqvarna helmet but has the longer standard brim. I like the Peltor muffs and screen over the Husqvarna ones also.

Willard.

I'm gonna get me one of these! It's actually an ANSI approved hard hat.

what helmet?hate to say it but its seldom i wear one,as a freelance climber, work comp exempt, technically i don't have to,but i do have one because some of the people i climb for ask me to.

Bill, tell them how many tree guys in this town wear helmets. I'm amazed if I see somebody wearing safety glasses or ear muffs!

Very few,i can only think of a dozen or so that actually wear helmets, muffs, glasses or chaps.I just usually wear glasses.

I don't have a problem cutting off part of the visor on a helmet, I like to look up and see tree, not helmet. A pair of tin snips and you're in bizz.

Never thought that the brim is so much part of the structural integrity, and remove half or so, but you make a good point. Thanks.

Try snipping part of the rim off a bucket, see the ease with which you can squash it between your hands vs. one that's intact.

I recently got one of these with the clear "glasses" that go under the mesh visor.

Have not used it much...needs a chin strap...did not come with one. It did come with a headlight. ;)
