I know there's a few of us that have some experience with helmet cams here and I'd love to hear any pointers you guys might have.;)

This is the one I got http://www.goprocamera.com/index4.htm

One thing that's frustrating is I don't know if I have it positioned correctly until I download the card or plug it in to my TV. I've already figured out that positioning varies with different situations and finding out that it was pointed too far up/down after the fact is irritating to say the least.:X

Wow, I started a thread and no responses after a few days.

Gee, thanks TreeHouse! I really appreciate your replies! I'm so glad I asked a question to my friends.:(

Well I appreciate some responses! I was a little hurt to see 0 after a couple days.

Helmet cams are subject to gross parallax error. Especially on close up work.

Best thing is to have a wide field of view(90 degree lens) and adjust the camera on the helmet to view a persons face as you stand next to and talk to them. That will get you in the ball park for your average close up shots.

I circumvented the whole problem with an eye piece that I wear so I see exactly what the camera sees. More spendy, more technical, but worth it.

I'd take any advise Jerry has to offer. He's got this down.

Jerry taught me a cool Loctite trick to mount the camera to the helmet. It worked well. But, I forgot to score the helmet with sand paper. So, on after a cold day of working in some crappy conditions, I noticed my mount got bumped off. :what: Oops!

don't know a thing about that one. But, I know this one http://www.oemcycle.com/Item/product/4822/WP/989-1205/Helmet_Cam_System works well.

So I think I'm gonna try the Go Pro too.

Did you get the wide angle?

What did you use for your helmet mount?

Would you buy another one if you knew what you know now?

Don't know if this will help or not...

I know skydivers that shoot video while free-falling use a helmet cam. There is an attachment you can get that extends down from the helmet to in front of your eye. Works like a view finder. All you have to do is simply keep your subject inside this view-finder!

Got to head off to work now but if your interested, check the web for something called a...

... "Newton Cross Sight"!

Thank You Gord, good link.

Seems the battery life sucks/stinks with the Go pro.
