I use progressive commercial for my buggies. FAR cheaper then regular auto insurance. Call them up for a quote.

Why would you reject uninsured motorist? It covers a plethora of things here, such as underinsured, not insured, hit and runs, etc.

The perception is that if a hit-and-run accident happens to my unattended vehicle, then uninsured motorist coverage will fix my car. Nope.
Another perception is that if an uninsured motorist is at fault in a collision with me, then uninsured motorist coverage will fix my car. Nope.
Oklahoma Uninsured Motorist Coverage only takes care of bodily injury (my definition would be doctor & hospital bills as the result of an accident). Since I am a government employee with what I think is adequate medical coverage through my employment, I feel my hospital bills will be covered without wasting my money on paying the premium.

The UM coverage for your vehicle includes any repairs to the car and for any damaged items in the car. However, there is $250 deductible, which you have to bear.

That means if you've been injured in a car accident, in Portland, for example, you will need a Portland lawyer to look into the other driver's insurance coverage. If the at-fault driver had no insurance coverage, your policy kicks in up to $25,000. If you have been seriously injured, $25,000 in uninsured motorist coverage likely will not fully compensate you for your injuries-medical bills, pain and suffering, and lost wages.

The minimum is required...I carry additional coverage to $100k, it costs only a few dollars more, not but a pittance. Now that can easily be exceeded by a serious injury too, but I'll tell you, for a state with required auto insurance, there are way too many going barefoot out there that have nowhere near enough resources to self-insure.

Agreed. But I don't view uninsured motorist coverage as auto insurance. I view it as medical insurance.

I carry full coverage on everything. It's 20 some bucks a month difference per vehicle for me. For that price, its worth it.

My premiums with full coverage run $300/month for my two trucks, bike, quad, and RZR.

Actually, a friend of mine dropped his homeowners with Alfa, (the company I have insurance through), because they over-valued his home. He built it himself, and knew he could replace it much cheaper than what they insured it for. He went with State Farm, because they would let him decide just how much he wanted his house insured for. The reason I keep it with Alfa, is that if my house burned or were destroyed by a tornado, I would get enough out of the deal to be able to take off work and rebuild it. I see no such motivation in auto insurance.

Your home zip code and many other factors play a big part in determining your insurance costs. Maybe the insurance companies don't like Butch's neighborhood?
Zip codes would pertain to auto insurance, Brian? I didn't realize that. I know some states seem to have better rates than others, but didn't know it had to do with the actual zip code.
I know my homeowners is not the cheapest, because I live 5 miles from the nearest fire house. I get junk mail all the time from Allstate and Geico, claiming they can save me "hundreds" of dollars a year in insurance. Mine is about $1k every six months for liability on 4 and full-coverage on 1.

For a commercial vehicle you can tell them how much you want to insure if for. There is no blue book on commercial. Non-commercial they give you blue book, plus extras if your lucky.

Yes, your zip code. Where you park your vehicle and where you do a large percentage of your driving will affect your insurance rates. Whodathunkit?

My zip code (termed "where the car is garaged" ) costs me more money than other places in CA. Reason being is that we have a lot of accidents here. It is also why we have more cops per capita that anywhere else in the state of CA as I recall. We have treacherous winding roads with bunches of tourists driving on them. So even though car theft here is low, accidents are high. This raises my rates.
