Are the echo 301 top handle saws good or bad? Never used one before or seen one even run.

Not for rigors of pro uses of trimming everyday. But homeowner or occasional uses for trimming etc.

Got a chance to buy a couple and thought about just putting them back on the shelf.

I have a 302 that was given to me .I wouldn't neccessarily call it junk but it isn't a speed demon either .For light stuff it does okay .It's a damned sight better than a mini Mac or a Homelite Xl-2 .

Like you said this is not a pro saw a treeman would care to make a living with .

Well that 302 in my shed has got to be pushing 30 years old .I know for a fact it was used by another tree man before Tom got it and he must have used it for ten years .Y'all got to remember this little pup is only 30 cc's not even 2 cubic inchs .

I'd imagine the market at the time was the occasional user to compete against Homelite Xl-2 and Mini Macs .With that perspective it's much better built than either .I'd imagine they're a 25-40 dollar saw now of days .

Guy was wanting $75 for the pair minus bars and chains.

I just didnt need them and wondered if they were even worth that to set back on the shelves.

In my opinon if they were complete and running that would be about what they are worth .No cutting system 20 a piece .
