Credit card use question

Need some advice :(

Made a visa credit card international purchase for five chainsaws from Georgia, USA, (friend's requests), and received the statement showing that the card has been deducted. I've done business with the place before, with good results, but this time, the saws are overdue, and I'm not getting any response to my emails about the matter. The place is a dealer, mostly turf equipment.

This is my first experience with this kind of situation, is there anything I can do through the cc company to get a follow up on my purchase, or a refund, assuming the saws never arrive and no further communications are forthcoming?

Thanks for any ideas.

Today is still Sunday here, 6:30pm. Try calling them in about 13-14 hours.

how long has it been since the charge was made on your card?

Thanks, am planning to call, just thought I'd like to know what my options are before speaking to them. Charge occurred 12/2 of last year.
In fairness, he did originally tell me that there was a back log on the saws from the distributor, but the "scheduled to arrive today or tomorrow", was weeks ago, with no response to requests for a shipping date and tracking info, after that.

Well, three months is way too long. Call the CC company (the numberr should be on the back of the card). I have no real advice other than to ask the CC company what to do to get your money back or something.

i dont know about international but if you were here the credit card company would bend over backwards to help you out

If you challenge the charges due to fraud the charges get removed from your bill, the seller gets dinged hard (they suck the money out of their accounts) and the burden of proof falls upon th seller to demonstrate that there is a valid debt... BUT DON"T jump the gun-if they actually did ship your saws you will wind up unable to undo your fraud charge quickly and totally unable to turn things around and pay them via your card.

You have 60 days after the statement date with the disputed charges to file a dispute. After that, the CC company assumes that the charges are correct and you may not be able to have them reverse it.

Before they "ding" the seller, they'll investigate the claim first. I would call the cc company just to put the pressure on the seller.

Hopefully the seller responds that they've already shipped, or they are about to. Either way, at least you'll hear what's up.

Jay, on your statement, there is a form for disputes. It takes a while, but you won't have to pay if you did not receive the goods.

Where in Georgia? I can think of a couple Tree Housers including myself, who may be able to "investigate.":guns:

Thanks, I'm feeling better about the situation after reading your posts. As I mentioned, we did do a good round of business for saws once previously, so I want to think that the company will be honorable again. All my emails to them to try and get some note about what's happening, I've tried to be courteous, and I think I'll give them a bit more time to respond, and give them a call, as Skwerl advised, if nothing comes by the end of the week. I erred in my earlier post, I said that the card was debited 12/2 of last year, but I misread the statement, it was actually 1/22 of this year  That still gives me some time to ask the cc card company to investigate, if need be. It's good to know that there is recourse through the cc company if it is required.

Even if the saws arrive, I'm going to let them know that better communications would improve the chances of continuing to do business with them in the future. I hope that is the eventual outcome, at least.

Wagnaw, a place called Holly Springs.

Much appreciate the help, guys.

They're about 3 hours drive from me. Call them, and if they have a problem with getting the saws to you, I can pay them a visit, no Problem.

Very kind offer, Wagnaw......I'll post how the situation develops.

Yeah, it's a hassle Squish, almost three grand shelled out for the saws. The guy sure was keen on emailing me before he got his money

Jay, perhaps if you forward the info to one of us here in the States, we could call on your behalf without incurring the long distance phone charges. I'm sure many of us would be happy to do that for you, although my charming personality might get you a box of dog crap sent to your door. :|:

Call them. Then let us know how it went.

if all else fails, we always have our resident pit bull we can sick on 'em. (Skwerl)

Can't help but think that a pit bull might bring some better results. I did send them another email this morning, a bit more explanatory of my perspective of their lack of response. You know the felling of waiting for something that never arrives....:?

I can call, the rates aren't bad, but I have to be at my shop at a funny hour to do it, as no long distance from my residence, only the shop. No bigee though.

It's place that will ship Huskies, by the way...anyone want their contact for an order .
X2 the price to buy them over here, that's why I go to the trouble...and misery.

What's the name of the place? All I have to do between now and Sat. is plant a dogwood tree.

Andrew is very personable, he gets along with everybody. I think he'd be a very good person to turn loose on this matter. And besides, he has a 'Hello Kitty' beanie hat. They gotta listen to him. :P

I believe the Georgia location is the main branch. Their website shows them selling mainly turf related equipment, as the name implies. They used to have an ebay shop selling Huskies, but I order (past and present) through contact at their website. The owner informed me that he would continue to supply the saws after Husky stopped the online sales, but I notice that they stopped selling on ebay, probably a result of the manufacturer's policy change. He didn't hesitate to say that it was no problem to ship to me, when I placed the order in January.

Hey! It's not Hello Kittie. It has Party Cats on it! ...and I sewed it myself!

....people do like the kittie hat though.... :D

Cat hat, sounds mean.

When I was a kid I trapped a cat in a old woodstove and kept it there until my mom heard it dying and released it. When I found out what she had done I flipped. She said to me, "It was going to die". I told her, "I could've atleast made some mitts or a hat out of it's fur".:D

Now back to who and how revenge will be taken for the assdragging shipping of Jay's saws.

I found the owner's profile on the web, he appears to be a young guy, fairly recently out of business school. All the more reason to take revenge, I mean messing with old farts :X
