So I found a Chipmore chipper on Craigslist for $1900. The owner, which is a large construction company, says the thing works just fine with no known problems. We are going on Sunday to look at it and most likely buy it as a backup to our Vermeer 1250. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these. My biggest concern is availability of parts. It has the Ford 300 gas engine so i assume that should have parts available and i know knives are still available, so that should pretty much leave beatings and belts.

Bearings and belts shouldnt be any problem. In my experience, your local NAPA or bearing dealer can come up with those provided you have the part number. Sometimes you have to have the belt made if its an oddball.

Engine parts should not be a problem .Ford made enough 300 6's parts should be around the next 50 years for those things .

The beatings will continue until morale improves...

Nah, you won't have any problems getting parts.
