I love the double-barn doors. Being able to open up the truck to throw logs in without having to disconnect the chipper... Clutch.

Where's the tool storage on the chip box?!

The down side is there is minimal storage there are two smallish boxes under the bed. Storage was something that I debated for a long time and decided against it because I am always running two trucks.

In this pic you can kinda see how much storage I had but mostly it was empty space and wanted more chip capacity. If I can find a better pic I'll post it.

DSC00075.jpg Oh boy this is a moldy oldie from the very beginning. It had boxes like that on both sides.

It's dark and raining. I was going to have barn doors but ended up with a three way tailgate, I like it. You can open it part way with the chipper on to load stuff or fully to tip a full load or just hinged for small or part loads.

Like this one but higher like the second pic.

Mine are just like this although not as high. I only have the two pins at the bottom and not the latch at the top.. My body is all alum.

I had mine built like a regular tailgate, and it works fine. I can open when hooked to chipper, just can't leave it down if I want to move. I had it built this way because I had a winch line coming out the back of my box for loading logs, and I wanted the tailgate to cover the ass end of my truck, like a skid plate and keep it from getting tore up. I had to have this box built hell for stout to hold up to loading logs. The guy that built it for me said he figured it to weigh around 1,100 lbs. Anyhow, here are a few pics:

Also, here's a pic of my custom storage in this chip truck. I have 7 chainsaws in that box(2 660's, 044, 026, 201, 200 and 150)and it seals at each end when I close the suicide doors, and there are vents out the back of the cab, to vent fumes, and have not smelled any since I built it 5 months ago. Room for climbing and rigging gear on top.

Cody - that's a cool setup you have there with the saw and equipment storage.
A recent stay in a motel room with a buddy and six chainsaws was memorable. The fumes (off the saws) were significant. We ended up putting them in the bathroom with the door closed, and the fan running. The fan didn't accomplish much.

Thanks. Fumes suck, and was my biggest concern for this setup, but have not smelled nary a one.

I prefer the double doors vs my single door on my trailers. The double are set up for easy removal as well. Just pick up the door. Boom.
I am having too many hinge and latch issues with my single gate. The weight is hard on things. Like a big leaver. Double doors open easier with a load of chips against them as well. Jmo

That's a sweet setup Cody, I like it. On my long distance work trips I take my 4runner for fuel economy and I bag my saws. That "cab-sealed" rear vented saw box looks freakin nifty.

Thanks. It has worked out great so far. The thing that I like the most is that my saws are heated in the winter, and most importantly, out of sight. I was going to build a rack on the roof, and mount a box up there...sure glad I didn't :)

But with an 450, you can handle it by god. Youin's don't want to know what my 350 weighs...but at least it only has a 5 foot box. I need to get a beer holder on the dingo.
