Business owners, do you expect a potential employee to negotiate pay?

And you are not worth a second of their time if they can't get the pay they want. I skip over tree companies offering $17hr as the high end. Not enough to bother with those penny pinchers.

Negotiating is a good way for each to feel out if it's worth exploring the employment.
 
So when I worked for council I negotiated my pay rate, when I went through the restructure I negotiated again for more. With the current company they asked how much so I gave them a price then did a trial week. From there we negotiated more. In the end I got to a price that I was happy with. If it helps im on 68K with a work ute valued at 20k and then super on top so about a 100k package. I also have about 15k of my own tools that I use so that aided in negotiations
