Check out weld porn stars on Facebook, some seriously high quality welding on there.

Pretty is good, strong is better. Destruction testing welds is very informative.

Square wave was a technology to get away from needing high frequency units. Lets the weld self clean better, and the arc remain more stable in the AC setting.

Burns my butt when you spend the money and the welds are poor on a flat bed or a trailer that you buy brand new.

Then you look at the wiring and everything is put together with Scotch Locks or twisted together with black tape. Not good.

Old gal from New Zealand always said that you should cut all the buttons off a new shirt and sew them back on yourself.:)

These two are final welded, fit perfect. Gotta wait till friday, the rest of the sheet is coming, then i can attach the two sides and top pieces together with cross members.

Looks great, Brendon! The best aluminum welding I see these days is by top notch bicycle frame makers. Some bar stems is beauty too. Working around curves and stuff requires a steady hand.

Up in the air about the lid still. Prob some sort of ss bolts somehow. Wanted latches but they are crazy money for ss.

I scoured the internet for ali hinges. I found these on a horse trailer pic. They sold me a set. Allow the door to be pinned open, will replace the bolt with a pin, so i can remove to dump in tight spots.

Nice dimes Brendon. My lid is three sections bolted together and bolted down. One loose bolt and the thing is loud as hell. I have thought about welding locating pins where the bolts are and using a latch like on a CamSuperline tilt deck. Two on each side and one in the front. Even being bolted in four spots along the 8' wide front, the chips still blast into the seam. If you haven't already, weld a strip on the lid to prevent chips from blasting through.

This is going to be a sweet ride. Look forward to seeing the final result. I have one Willie Gingg built. He did a great job as well.

I,ve seen that on another, rajan.

Bud, im running a piece of angle along the bottom, will have a 1.5" overhang over the seam.

Ive seen them. Your pin is captive. Cannot take the door off. I am doing a full length door, dont care for doubles. I am replacing the bolt with a push button pin, that way i can remove the door at any time. Sometimes nessesary when dumping around trees, etc.

I got the above hinges in the mail today, they are bomber.

On mine The latch that closes the gate will also latch open to the side securely.

Check these out if yours suck. They are supposedly locking.

Uno mas. Going to work on cutting out some angle bracing for the front for the rest of the day. Sometimes you gotta step back from it and breath.

Going with three separate panels for the bottom. That way i can store it flat and be easier to take on and off.

Corner braces. This is where the two sides will bolt to the front cross member.

Turns out ill be a week behind. One of the sheets they sent has a machine finish. Totally doesn't match the rest. Out of five orders, they messed up five. Lol. Yesterday was a total fiasco.
