So some of you know I blew the engine in my boxer last month. I say it barely qualifies as catastrophic as I drove it into my shop! A rod cap came off (bolts broke) and beat around and punched a hole in the case and broke another cap bolt but somehow stayed together long enough to get it on and off the trailer and into the shop!
Decided to do a few other things while I had it apart but most of the hydraulic stuff it from Italy and a pain to get so I skipped some of it. I did pull one valve body apart, clean and reseal it as I had trouble with the main boom lifting in a jerky fashion. Hopefully that did the trick.
The engine in the machine is no longer being built so I bough the new and improved version with 1 HP more. Honda muffler I bought with the engine sat to high for the machine so I took it back and modified the old one to fit. The muffler tip barely fits through the hole so i'm having a new one with a little offset in it being built. Few little issues but I got her going last night, ran it a few times today trying to seat the rings.
Long winded post but figured it would be of some interest to a few

New one pretty! I likey!

Jeeeez Willie. Same thing looks like mine did too. Same kinda hole in about the same location :/:

Thing was still running with no weird noise going on when we shut off. Just threw oil all over a dudes driveway...

Well so much for Honda engines being said to be indestructable .Evidently they have an issue with rod cap bolts or something .

Looken good Willie but I might add you have chit laying every where kinda of reminds me of me .

you ever have problems with the controls freezing in cold temps. If it goes in the 20s here mine freeze. Is this a symptom of bad hydro fluid or just tired controls were water gets in at the top? not trying to derail, just looks like you took all levers off.

I took them off so I could pull the dash. The caps that the levers are attached to can fill with water, I packed them with grease while I was in there. Never had one freeze but it could be that or water in the hydro fluid. Turns it to slush and that just doesn't move

One might think that but not always the case .In addition to my garage at the house my shop is 60 by 70 and given enough time it too turned into wall to wall chit everywhere .

Then you need more space:D

Lookin good Willie.

I might have to take my engine out again. Somehow, the pivot bolt for the loader arm snapped. I heard it lowering the boom with no load, I was going to move snow. Looked around didn't see anything. Went to raise the boom and it was all crooked. Problem is limited space to get the rest of it out. Might have to get in there and weld the nut to the remaining, then get it out. I've got replacements from Mcmaster already, grade 8 this time.

Pivot bolt? Not a regular pin? Most cylinders i've seen in that size range run 1" pins

Now believe it or not hard bronze does better when used as a bearing of a sort to not be lubed if in the presence of dirt etc. much like loader arm pivot would be .

The mixture of grit combined with oils or grease forms grinding compound ,no kidding .

A post scribe : --unless the design utilizes seals of some kind to keep the dirt out and the lube in such as dozer track roller .

awww shit willie sorry I didn't dig in my bone yard for that 25G joystick while you had her all apart. crap now i will have to look for it tomorrow. should have called me and kicked my azz.

brendon those bolts have broke on me B4 also, might be all those counterweights and extra operators we added at times.
some times the thread piece comes right out, some have been a BI to remove with an extra large extractor
