Well, I didn't buy this, I cobbled it together in the shop yesterday while it was SNOWING!

Another project courtesy of the scrap pile. I tend to OVER-BUILD stuff, but, surprisingly it is well balanced to the head. The wing nuts allow easy loading, AND adjustment for the height of the shot. As I have never seen anyone (other than me) use a BS, I was surprised to see how much flex there is in the pole. I know for a fact that my BS bungee has never been stretched to the limit. It has now!

It ain't purdy, but it seems to load, aim , and shoot well. I don't think I lost much efficiency in the Sear (trigger). I was concise to keep the sear in line with the "U" of the head, I don't know IF this helps or hinder efficiency!

WADAYA think?

Looks good to me....has to be better than holding it with your fingers...should let you fine tune shots, too. Maybe put some reference marks on the pole to correlate with height it shoots for a given stretch?

Compared to the one that is sold for the Bigshot, I'd say yours look like something engineered in the old Soviet Union.

The original is ridiculously overpriced, so good for you that you were able to make your own.

Neat. I'd like to see it in the released position. Nothing therefor the rubber to snag on?

That's a pretty well behaved dog you got there in the background, Brent.

You're pretty crafty with the ideas and fabrication. "over-engineered" yeah, but you did one heck of a job on that release. Nice fitted parts and welding. I'd like to see some pics of your shop. If you don't mind.

Nice job.

While were on the topic of Big Shot triggers, is there someplace to purchase one like sherrill sells, but cheaper??? Hoping to get a big shot soon, and want to set up a mechanical advantage/quick release on it. Already have a few small pulleys and rope around, just need the quick release.

That is SWEET! I like that it is rigid instead of connected with a floppy prusik. It seems like that would make it easier to position it on the pole. Ever thought about making these for sale?

Yeah Brent it sure is ugly (no offense), but if it works it works. Men are all about function not form anyway. Good job!

As far as a simple release for a big Shot... What about using a bow string release as you trigger release?

All you would have to do is attach a cord look at the base of the big shot pocket (handle) and with the trigger section of the release...with wrist strap removed, configure a prussic cord around the big shot pole and the other to the trigger section of the release.

You will be able to adjust the height/position of the trigger with the prussic cord after it is clamped on the base of the pocket of the big shot!

Again... simple! ;)

Your thoughts...

No reason why a bow string release wouldn't work, Hobby. I bought one, but never used it to its full extent because the device was just too easy to trip accidentally. The Wichard quick release shackle, though over priced, does the job well with safety and certainty.

Now Brent's release, in the polished stainless steel version, would be like the chrome bumper on my 1951 Buick Special. Straight 8 with a three speed on the column. Strictly a custom order device. Perfected, tried and proven.

Hey I'm just tossing ideas out there, personaly I don't use a release.

Brent's designe is solid for sure but I was thinking it might cost a few bucks to make. Then again, I've owned releases that ranged in price from $39 to over $120!

Ger, you do make a very good point about the "touchey trigger"!!! I hadden't thought about that area. I do know that there are some bow string releases on the market that incorporate a set screw that adjusts the triggers tenssion!

Again, just tossing ideas.

Never thought of that either!

When releaseing an arrow, the unit is secured around the archers wrist and lays inside his hand (see earlier pic), only the clamp & trigger is exposed.

Once the trigger is touched, the hand recoiles back with the trigger all moveing as one.

This would not be the case if attached to a big Shot!

Brent's design trumps mine, :notworthy:!
