I recall reading an old artical in a Black Power magazind there it talks of the old timers rendering bear fat down to oil. They use the oil on their muzzleloader rifles and in their lanterns. Seem to remember that it can be used to make candles also but not sure how they do that.
I've only shot one bear while bow hunting for moose and let me tell ay...there is a heck of a lot of fat on them things!!!
I would think that bears would be attracted to the smell of their own fat, either on a rifle or someplace else. I've heard that the vegetable base chain oil is something that gets them interested.
