Gnarl experience to call a mayday on a sinking boat Butch. Makes for a salty past.
I heard maydays going out in the winter of 89, crab season. Boat called the "Vestfjord" but no one could save them. Not us, not their sister ship, not the coast guard. Conditions were too extreme. The maydays just stopped. It was hard to hear the maydays and hard to hear the silence afterward.

The worst part was I had to go down into the compartment to find a radio. It felt odd throwing the mic down instead of hanging it up!
 
Going DOWN into a sinking boat has to be tough...a few moments of quick thought and clarity there, I am sure.

I recounted it today to the guys at work, they both dug it. One laughed and said ah trying to get it going with the captain's daughter. :lol:
 
Yup. He sniffs out stuff like that in a milli second.
