The aluminum stirrups on Bashlins have to be thicker and wider in order to be as strong as steel. The footplates are held on by sandwiching the stirrups between two plates with 2 screws holding it all together. The aluminum Bashlins are too thick to fit into the space intended to fit steel spurs.
