so I bit it and bought a 200T 8) up here they are 800 bucks, taxes in.

It feels good in hand, a bit more balanced than the 192T and the Echo's I have.

I got the 16" bar, i have some bad assed removals upcoming and did not want to have to keep sending up a ground saw to use in-tree;)

here are a couple of pics of it compared to the 192T.

did a few practice cuts, i like it:evil:

One question, i was always told to run it less than full for awhile, (which seems stupid if you are using for work?) but the dude at the Stihl dealership said as long as it is under load, go ahead and run it, it will be fine, but it will still take about 10 tanks to reach max performance. :?

There is a torx head screw in the middle of the muffler (as you're looking at the clutch cover side of the saw). Remove that screw, then grab the little metal flap with needle nose pliers and slide it out. Put both items in a safe place far away from the chainsaw.

As with every other small two cycle motor in the history of the world, it will take about 10-15 minutes of run time for the rings to set. Don't worry about it. You'll have that much run time brushing out the tree before you get to any big cuts where you will really work the saw. By the end of the week you will notice a distinct improvement in power over the first day of use.

ever wonder why some still say run at 3/4 power for 10 tanks? that seems like a lot of wasted time...

The muffler on the t200 released in Scandinavia must be different.
I just went and looked at mine. There is no torx head screw in the middle.

Do you happen to have a picture of an American T200, Brian?

I did hear once that some countries didn't have the spark arrestor. Only picture I have, not in the middle but lower RHS.

is it me or do the cooling fins seem way smaller on the new 201T?

You won't regret having that 16 bar Cary. The 200T has a better balance with the 14" for most. I just like I can take a whole lot of tree and a little extra reach with the 16 bar :D

Here is the muffler on mine.

Different fer sure!

We don't have spark arrestors.
This place is so wet that the only way to start a forest fire is by calling in a napalm strike.

I remember your pics Marc-Antoine. I need to stealth my arrestor now that I am out of warranty on the last one. That and maybe swap over the muffler Sqwerl worked on for me. Then buy one more IF I can before they are all bye bye.

Cary, this thread was a great idea.
It made me think about getting an extra T200 while they are on the market.

So today I called my dealer, he didn't have any, but called StihlDenmark.

They had ONE left. ONE!

Which I promptly ordered.

The last T200 in the country.

Talk about luck.

Wow, you're not going to use it I hope. It'll be more valuable in its original box, never unwrapped.

I'll let somebody famous use it once.
That'll add to it's pedigree.

FWIW according to my IPL the main difference on the muffler or at least with my version of the parts list is that the saws for US,Canada have 6 holes in the baffle plate .The standard or Europian version has 5 holes .Now later versions evidently as pictured must use a different design for Europe .

I can attest to how much just removal of the screen/baffles will improve them .Both mine have always had same done .Tom has one that he thought I had souped up over just pulling the screen .He claims it never ran so well .
