Has anyone bought anything from these guys?

http://foresterbarandchain.com/

We have made several purchases and some items have been pretty good and others have just sucked big time. We got some throwballs for $2 each and they lasted about a week before they busted open. On the flip side, we got some wedges for about $4 ea that are just as good as any felling wedge that we have bought anywhere else.

I just got a catalog from them... the Northern Tool of Tree Equipment?

Yep. The only reason I ever bought anything from them is because they are located in WI and a good friend of mine lives right by their store and swears by certain products that they sell. However, he warned us to be careful about what we buy. Stay away from the rope bags I guess. We saw them at ISA Chicago where they had a booth and I didnt really think the bags were all that bad so maybe they improved on them.

Cheap stuff is cheap. Which is ok if you are looking for cheap, sometimes cheap is ok.

I love my HC rope bags, the best, most durable rope bags I've ever seen. Well worth every dime and I'll have them for as long as I have ropes to put in them.

Something that gets used on a regular basis - Cheap is probably not the best idea. Dad used to buy stuff from Harbor Freight back in the 80's. I had to admit that most of the stuff was usable. I don't think their quality is what it used to be, but I had a bud pick me up a couple 3/8 X 20 chains on sale for $20. You would have a hard time getting one at an auction for that price. I have tested them and they are still in one piece.

FWIW the only trow bag I will buy is the Wesspur indestructable ones, had one almost a year and I abuse the heck outa it and it is still kickin....

my guess is that the throwballs from Ahlborn are the polar opposite of what you can get at Wesspur.
