People are different, there's an Aussie on here (forgot who sorry!) who hooks his saw on but doesn't actually attach it.
So if it snags a bit he's lost it.

Best part no chain catching on my ropes
Pants lanyard etc
Moderately annoying slip on slip off but as far as I am concerned the protection of my gear overrides
