1994 F-450 diesel??

I'm surprised, Gary; I have the 6.9 IDI (predecessor to the 7.3 IDI and PSD) in my '88 F350, and it's been about indestructible.

Thanks for taking the time to put photos up Brian. I actually have some leads on a few f350's here that come out of the military and are auctioned off for fairly good deals. I was looking at the one in new york as it already had a dump body, didn't realize you could pick one up for a grand bodean??

Way cool mang... I agree that the 6.9 IDI's are great engines Erik. I was more referring to the 7.3 IDI and DI right before they went PSD. The bugs weren't even worked out of them before they went to the PSD in mid 1994.

IMHO... the 7.3L PSD is the best diesel Ford ever had.

That trucks looks like a nightmare waiting to happen. Looks used hard. Thats just my guess at a glance though. I myself LOVE and live for older Fords. I freakin mean that too. I have driven Fords from the 80's since I turned 16 and loved every single minute of it. I love the heck out of them. I feel they were solid trucks, built well for that time period, and not known for any huge issues. Ive run my business on old Fords too. I try and keep them clean looking and in tip top shape. My wife has told people a hundred times that if you gave me 50k bucks cash, Id come home with 50 old Fords the next day.

Here's a few of the old Fords that have made me money. The chip truck is an EXCELLENT truck hands down. 1989 F450, fresh 460 fuel injected motor, fresh rear, NO rust, NO rot. That trucks pulls hard too. 245K miles on her. The flat bed pick up I made into a run around truck to beat on, and not worry about. Something guys new to driving stick could beat up on and not make me cringe. 83 half ton, straight 6, 4 speed with granny low, 9 inch rear with 3;93 gears, 1 ton springs in the rear, front leveled out, frame done in Chassis Saver, diamond plate flatbed. Im giving you the abbreviated version of what i did to that truck. I did that truck over from end to end.

Thank you skwerl. They hold no monetary value obviously, but they are mine and I value them. I told myself earlier on, that in my first few years of business, I wasnt going to finace trucks and whatnot. Not until I was established enough to afford the payments year round. So, I bought what i could afford out of pocket, and tried to make them presentable and professional.

I didn't have quite as good of luck with my '88 F150. It was the only truck I bought new and it had 198K miles when I traded it, but it ran worse and had more problems than any other vehicle I've ever owned. And since fuel injection was still new, the 5.0 only had 165 horsepower and it was a total dog. Combined with the 3.31 rear end and tall gears in the transmission I was replacing the clutch every 50K miles. The gas gauge broke at 3500 miles and the motor sucked a valve at 70K. After the rebuild it would only run on premium and still pinged when accelerating. Ford should be glad I still like their brand after owning such a total piece of crap truck for almost 9 years.

The 302 cubic inch engine commonly known as the 5.0 was a good enough engine in a Mustang but it didn't have the low end torque needed for a truck engine ,full sized Lincoln or whatever else it was used in .

83 half ton, straight 6, 4 speed with granny low, 9 inch rear with 3;93 gears,
The 300 Ford is beyond a doubt one of the best truck engines that company ever made .It's not uncommon to see many in service today that were made in the 70's with well in excess of 200 thousand miles .
