    How'd it go today?

i've started buying second hand books too more often. I only know English, but I enjoy (centuries) older books and would almost always rather work through the original version/language/format than rely on somebody's "edited for the modern reader" version.

wow. that guy looks like he makes it look easy. must be fun (work) working in those woods all day. ==== ha, CBAed, looked it up, funny, never heard that one before, but I can totally relate. Thanks Cory, Yeah, I learned about the tire from my youtube buddy, Tim Gruchow. wouldn't want to...

Thanks Sean, yeah backing into a sea of pallets piled with wood sounds like a good method --- just need to be able to judge a full load from stack in truck. I have a pickeroon, which I use for getting leverage to pull over big rounds, etc...... haven't found it useful for handling small...

Butch, that is 4'x8'x 18" .... about 2/5 of a standard "full" cord. Yeah, I know but that seems to be what the market will bear here. I figure firewood is a "free" byproduct of tree removals.... although I removed these particular ones free... for the firewood... yeah, I know..

Sean, you mean splitting off thin "arc's" around the edges of thicker rounds?

ready to deliver... took about 1 hour to load Delivered and Stacked....$115.00 Took ~4 hours from loading truck to walking back inside when I got home. Figure approx: 12 hours to fall/fell, buck, haul back tree 4 hours to split 4 hours to deliver and stack and return (40 miles round trip)...

Cobleskill, so 4'x8'x18" (length of firewood) is a "full face cord" ? .... i.e. less than half of a true "standard" cord? ..... just trying to understand because there is a lot of fuzzy, confusing terminology it seems. .... and it seems to vary among different people. Thanks. Stig, what is a...

Kyle, what you say cannot be argued with. I guess there is some amount of foolishness in my "business" plan -- i.e. at this point it is really "technically" more of a "hobby" in reality. Best I can say now is: I enjoy it... physically, mentally, emotionally It is doing *something* (anything)...

Sean, so 22 ton is good enough for, say, up to 24" ? Correct to assume the main thing is the engine? ... i.e. the hydraulic aspect is simple and basic?

That would be good to see, Stumpshot! Physical workout IS part of the attraction. Have thought about getting a log splitter, but cannot yet justify the expense to the expected rate of return. Still sort of feeling my way through the whole tree removal/firewood and tree work business .... from...

Are the sides (normally) removable on a dump trailer? e.g. for loading heavy stuff over the side for a given situation?

Rich, Is that a dump trailer? what type of trailer do you call that? It really looks nice, and ideal for something I might think about considering. Thanks.

    How'd it go today?

I can relate, Rich. Since I am "retired", my dad thinks I have all the time in the world and I tend to be indignant and "put upon" when he doesn't seem to realize it... but it's worse for me because I certainly don't do 50-60 hours a week, although my own place requires upkeep time especially in...
