That WR is slick looking. I imagine that one performs differently than the zk1.

I bend my climb line into a "U", full 180.

haha. You know, its just that every time I go to a basic DdRT system, its like the lightbulb turned off. I really don't mean for it to sound snobby, but, frankly, its too much work for me, and I curse the inconsistent friction. I started experimenting with SRT in trees initially after self...

As best I understand it, and have yet to try it, you can simply but the end of the rope through an appropriately sized bridge ring, and tie a secure stopper knot. This is how a rope bridge is attached to rigging plates, right? Skip the whole splice and carabiner (an extra mechanical piece of...

The RW sticking out toward my teeth is a problem for me. The zk2 is smaller than the zk1. The idea of terminating the rope on DdRT with the HH by putting a stopper knot through the bridge ring avoids the conflict of a termination knot clipped into to my lift-support strength advancing loop...

Fwiw, I bend my rope / cord into a tight U-shape above the hh, where the hitch cord is wrapped to snug the cord as tight as I can, then tie dress and set my hitch cord in order to get it Tight. Works for me. I'm interested to try something better, too.

That is a very slick device. Looks like too many little parts to get snagged fighting through a dense tree, for me. I never expected to trust the zig zag 1 or 2. I am wary of mechanical hitches in tree work. Hh and we are pretty unbreakable from the looks. If a rope wrench were to break/ pin...

At some point, someone has a bit of an issue with the carabiner that was sorted out with a little polishing on the slot. Check your dog bone slot for any super small imperfections. My hitch hiker has been Disco all the way, except after retying once where I had my valdotain crossover on the...

Don't know what Paul uses. Probably a "hitch hiker" stopper knot. Seems secure, and easy to untie. Some might call it a double overhand.

I think it was a different thread. Paul mentioned that he terminates his DdRT rope on the HH by passing through the ring, and using a stopper knot. Genius.

Welcome, Steve. Sean, here. Do you get a lot of sit-back with the VT? inches? The prescribed valdotain has very little.

Gemcutter, sounds like you need to speak APTA-ese. What you tell your throw line must not be what you think you're telling it.

Gear does what you tell it to do, its never tired or hung over, and there is no Worker's Comp / SS/ Unemployment/ etc.

Ya, Randy, totally makes sense. I wish I had a steady paycheck along with the business. I did, actually, but worked too much and the job was not a good fit. It was easier.

I guess that I'm saying that is wise to build up the arsenal before needing to start taking mortgage/ bills out of tree money. Its way easier to pay for it all if you have all the money making tools already, and an expanding customer base. Way harder to afford to buy the money making tools...

Good to climb and enjoy, and have a job with benefits. Don't start a business on a shoe string, working a long time to afford the tools that would have made short work of things, like a Wraptor, if applicable... Probably last you a life time. You can build an arsenal of equipment from side tree...

I used a hickory hammer handle. It was longer than needed, but worked. I took the largest drill bit I had. I drilled at about 45 degrees, then used a chainsaw file to 'waller out' the hole. Somehow, I took some small diameter junk accessory rope to wear the hole in. I feel like I hung the wooden...

You can make one from a piece of wood. Are you familiar? Not mid line attachable, but I rarely untie my SRT system.
