    Woodworking

Work is dead around my parts. So I've taken on some woodworking jobs with the live edge I have. Still need to sand it and apply finish.

Pulled out some 4" thick walnut from my house, decided to flatten and sand it since it's finally a nice (not raining) day. People always tell me I need a big shop. I say no shit, eh. 25-32" wide 50" long. About 3" thick.

Nothing spectacular but I turned a small dry apple log I've had for a few years into 4.5" diameter 6" long lamp base with holes for small tools. The lamp shade was left on my front yard by a methhead, I replaced the lamp socket and added a cord.

That is great! All I can carve are boobs and dicks.

I have the same router, I wish I got the variable speed option.

I milled some willow last year, pulled it out of the kiln. I milled it 4" thick, came out 3 1/4". Doesn't look bad. In the old country it was called gypsy wood (good for nothing wood). I have some smaller pieces that I am going to sand and see how it takes oil finish.

That was just a mock up to see if my idea worked. I set the sprockets in their final place and tightened the chain.

Works pretty good. I'm surprised. Now to fine tune it, hope in the near future I'll stick a gear motor on it and all I'll have to do is push buttons.

Nice bar and table! I did a little fooling around in the shop today. Testing out a chain drive on my router sled. Hope it will speed things up, or at least easier on my back pushing and pulling the router sled.

Look what the GF found me. 20" thickness planer. Real cheap. Didn't feed. A little work, now it feeds. Fast.

I've been making a few table tops, this one is a sugar maple, it was tapered pretty good so I split it, flipped it and glued.

Some crotch pieces left over from some other custom boards, I filled the cracks and bark inclusions with polyester resin and set them aside for future use. Someone messaged me wanting a small counter top for a laundry room, my left overs fit the bill. Tung oil finish.

Making charcuterie boards for customers. Top one is 28" wide by 50" long, bottom one are 11" wide by 30" long.

28" wide black walnut by 51" long, just over an inch thick, out of the kiln, 8% moisture! Flattened and rough sanded both sides, 20 minutes.

Some charcuterie boards, hope they sell. The apple is 8" wide by 16" long. I cut the tree a couple years ago, not much was millable, I did save the good stuff, now it's dry, and not all that cracked!

A fair bit of black walnut is dry, so I planed them and brought them to the GF's house.
