    That makes perfectly sense.

Yes, A biner can be used very well instead, but I prefer the small delta link for two reasons : first, the delta is shorter, so the HH is a little lower and matches better with my shoulder sling. Second, the central point on the saddle is made by two crossed web slings, so I like the idea to put...

Here's my setup on the central point of my Sequoia SRT. I replaced the biner by a big delta link to reduce the tendency of the HH flopping sideway. It doesn't avoid it completely in DdRT when slack tending, but it work well enough during the ascent in SRT. I have still a little work to do on it...

What I don't understand is why you want to use both the HH and the croll. The croll is ascender only, takes place on the bridge or on the belt's central point (on Sequoia SRT for example). The HH is at the exact same location, performs well as an ascender (less easy slack tending though) and is...

Same look for mine. The orange coat wears and lives the aluminum naked at this heavy friction point, but the metal stays very smooth so it doesn't harm the rope. Actually it isn't the rope which abrades the aluminum body, it's the grit, sand and dirt on it. Keeping your rope reasonably clean...

Fiona, the position of your Pantin is a bit strange. Too high for me, it rotates and lays almost over your foot. The concern is that it bends the rope, as Sean says it, so advancing the device is less easy. It's more difficult for the rope to slide down through the Pantin and you could have...

I do it a little differently : I pass the beeline throw the dogbone and make the stopping knot before taking out the slack from the wraps. I find it easier this way, as you don't have to hold tight your wraps during these steps (because I always lost my grip doing that and the slack comes back...

Good idea with marking the beeline for the knot, but I'll try to mark it with a pencil. I use the HH on two different ropes. So the knot has two favorite places and the tape would be in the way.

I put 5 wraps on my HH too, like it was sent with the beeline already knotted. It works like that for me. I tried 4 wraps but it doesn't hold enough. And with 6, it's too grabby and difficult to push up.

For me, HH either in mode SRT or DdRT, with a small DdRT as a second line/lanyard. It works nicely for the dismantling jobs, as you don't care if there is a limb or not where you want to hang your line. Very useful too for pruning trees with wide canopies. Traveling in big trees isn't a so...
