It looks like steel micro-dust reacting with the wood. Maybe the boards sliding on a steal plate or the milling frame on the wood. It seems that mainly the hight spots/ridges are stained. It wouldn't be the case if it was bark dust dragged in by the cutters.

I'd say that due to an uneveness in the teeth's tweeking to create the kerf. One or many are set wider than the average and carve a wider kerf on their path. Hand sharpening or small hit/bend on the blade. It can be done too by a sligthly off weld to close the band. Perhaps a build-up on the...

With the small winch, push/pull shouldn't be as critical for your comfort zone. You don't have to maintain a constant effort with all your boddy for a long time, just turn the handle as needed and the thing does the job for you. You have to regulate the system though, so attention is involved...

Concerning the underpowered oiler, I don't see the difference between milling and bucking a full sized log, beside the duration of the cut. At any given moment, it should be about the same, no?

Yes, I'd say that your laser doesn't reach the uvlight domain but is near the frontier (for human eyes) of the visible light, as a dark violet if we can say that. But the limits are somewhat blurry and only conventional. The wave length's variation is continuous, while some physical reactions...

Here, all the lumbers for carpentry and roofing (from 1"x1" to 6"x6" and 9"x3") at the hardware store are completely green, full of water. They come from the mill directly after being cut. Just a little dip in a yellow soup, as a matter to say that they have been "treated" (mandatory). Actually...

Nice piece. My apples are alive, about 8-10", but their trunks are already decayed. Grafted tree in a town's garden isn't a good card to start in the life.

I tried that to split in two on the fly for garden purpose a log of Arizona cypress. Maybe 20" down to 16" diameter and about 17' long. It was by eye sight, so not so accurate to start with. It works well enough, but it's easy to deviate a little each time and bite the side of the kerf. I got a...

For me, the more acute angle, the more each cutter is pushed sideway by the wood being cut. The move is limited by the cutter's side but the trend is there. A 10° doesn't push as much, so you should got a thinner kerf (but takes more force to be pulled through). I tried that on the ms 150 to use...

Nice to make it run again. I reckon that I rarely think at this little screen in the carb. I did had trouble with it by the past, but it doesn't want to come back to mind easily.:|:

Have a look at the rubber boot between the carb and the cylinder. It's a good part to get a lean run and is over stretched when the anti vibs give away.

As a matter of traction, I hauled a lot of sand and gravel with my riding mower (the usual cheap one, 12 hp) and a garden trailer. That's OK for about 900 lbs (plus the trailer's weight of course), even in a slight slope. But if the grass is wet, you are screwed ! I put some gentle quad tires...

At least, you have a loader... You can grip the very end of the log with the loader and alternate the ends as needed. That gives you roughly half the load to move, the ground, some logs or the trailer/truck holding the other half. It could be problematic in tight access though.

Sorry, not for me. As the cut is unidirectional and in the pulling mode (the chain doesn't allow to be pushed), only the main engine has a direct effect on the cut and is in the right place to sustain the main strain of ripping the wood. We can see different cases : If the "tip" engine is set...
