The serial number is mostly in front on case were it hit wood if there is no dawgs. If not its on a tag in rear of saw.

If ring is mounted and you are going to break it were it sit in the box, you really need to try very hard. It would leave marks on piston as well as a lot more damage to box and bag. I seen a lot worse without damages.

I get a lot of pistons in store boxes. A bit paper around piston and a bit extra in top if needed. Plastic all around. I guess they could be damaged, but I had luck so far. No squished boxes even. Shipping to US you need to make sure you can drop it from third floor or from a truck running 100...

Was it after market piston on internet buy? Contact them. Say what you are worried about and ask if they have any good solusion. I order a lot of stuff supplied my mail. Here it is pretty rare I see any shipping damages. If it got busted in box with piston that had to have shown on the box.

Nope. That brand is now in bottom draw in Husqvarnas desk along with many other brands. McCulloch replaced it in the stores, no pro saws other than Husqvarna in the Elux/Husqvarna brand with a few exceptions of the last Jonsered saws.

I use very little saws but I have many saws so favorite tends to be the one I set up for this time. Jonsered and Partner is very close to my heart. Older Husqvarna too. Dolmar saws I like too. 5000 and 7000 series are fun to work with and not very hard to work on.

I must say my Dolmar 6800 is my current favorit. Yes, the favorit vary quite a bit, I have many favorits....

Change the seals now as you have it down in parts anyway. Is it scored all around or just by exoust? This is heat scooring. Could very well be from lean running but not becurse carb is old. Could also be over loaded... Could be defect membranes or gaskets, but defect carbs is not really common...

If you put it together and it is tight with membranes and covers I think that is enough. Lever is set flush with bottom under membrane. A bit lower if heel on membrane is higher than original.

Also take a good look at needle so its coned and no defects or crap on it.

If you changed membranes it may be different heights on heel on membrane. Just a couple tens of an milimeter will do as then inlet needle is not working right. Needles should be one turn out on both H and L. I suspect yours is not. Then as it runs you fine tune it. No less than 3/4 on any of...

Yes, but is it set correct in height? If its too high it may leak when you start it. It can still hold tight when testing but flood as its open too much. What needle setting is it on now when it floods? Is intake tight? On side won't do it. Flip it over and pull without plug and kill switch...

Is main inlet needle set right and tight? Do you run it dry after its flooded and make sure there is nothing left in crank case or Muffler/Intake?

Theoretically it may sound as this could work, but in reality it is impossible to get a 5 pin (rim/sprocket) on clutch bell as it's diameter is greater than this. 7 pin rim and 6 pin sprocket is smallest I think.
