That... was incredibly good, thank you for posting.

    Insufficient priveleges to reply here?

I agree, Kevin. A 'new normal' for the house too?

    Anyone still using the APTA?

It is good to remember that the laser's green dot marks the center of where the bore is pointing not necessarily where the bag will hit. Unlike on a firearm where the dot gets adjusted to mark the point of the bullet's impact at various set distances. Shooting on the horizontal, projectile arc...

I've done that a bunch also.

That's great to hear, Ben. With in the field use time and experimentation, I firmly believe this type of laser equipped APTA has no equal in both accuracy and complex line setting potential.

    Anyone still using the APTA?

Yeah, I can't shoulder it and work the lever smoothly. I hold it like a mortar but braced on my hip pocket area.

I use my left hand on the release lever with my thumb on the valve. The butterfly valve should open with the lightest touch and in truth does not need to be fully open to get a good air blast.

LOL! Trust me, my stacking wood by hand in no way reminds me of my youth. Equipment costs, in many ways. To be fair though I do use equipment to move my wood from the wood pile and hydraulic splitter to the house.

LOL. The catch 22 there is in order for a decades worth of wood to actually last a decade, you will be stacking said wood someplace under cover. I'm going to guess, that much wood will not fit on your front porch. Burning wood always seem to come back to 'stacking' one way or another.

No excess stacking is going on, only what is needed. Wood comes home from work and gets dumped in the log pile. When needed, split it 'if needed', and bring it to the house. Wood is stacking within 5 steps of the stove. Works well.

It is a life style for some, Kyle. For myself, I have given careful thought to what I do and how I do it. Not really a random sort of guy.

The majority of what we bring home from work is already cut to stove length. By the time I get around to splitting it, it has already been sitting for a couple of years. Our summers tend to be so hot and dry, that even the unsplit rounds in the stack will be dry or mostly so.

As someone who has spent the majority of his life depending on firewood, when you need it, it's all good. Also not a fan of walking through snow and subzero wind on a frequent basis to get my wood. This is what the deck leading to my front door looks like at this time of year.

    Wood stove heat

Just the one stove, Justin. But as Burnham eluded to, the house was designed by us specifically to maximize the use of a wood stove. It is a 1903 Hartland Oval that is UL-rated so house insurance will still accept it. A key component, is that it also has a outside fresh air intake into the...

Shoot, does having your stove smack dab in the center of the house count? Seems to work fairly well.
