Why would you be splitting by hand if you own a super split and do this for money?

My buddies cut a year's worth of firewood in a weekend or two, using a farm boss and a homemade splitter. While drinking beer. I view most of the things i do as boring honestly, and so i hardly ever take pictures, let alone video.

A few quick questions.... 1. When did having/ not having a damn YouTube channel mean anything at all? 2. When did making firewood become some legendary thing? I get it, burning wood saves money, but really? I get it showing pics of awesome wood sheds, wood stove setups, your setup for doing it...

My surprise in the whole thing was that the majority here still stack by hand, despite having access to tons of equipment. I get that it's a labor of love, relaxing for some, reminds them of their youth, etc. but that's a ton of manual time consuming labor. Having said that of course, i have...

Made the company buy it, and the other gear, so no hahahahahaha. The money saved on scaffold easily covered the cost, and i ended up doing a bunch more rope work for them later. Also since it was tig root and 7018 fill/ cap, there's very little sparks, so i was good. I was repairing welds that...

Yup, and i drug up right after that job too  i was trained well by very talented craftsmen, and had a good work ethic beat into me my whole life. There's plenty that are far better than me, but i don't think I've ever showed up on a job and the guys were like "damnit not this guy"

The alternative was to have scaffold built, then adjusted, almost daily because the welds were all at staggered height. And even with that, it was going to be a nightmare because they wanted tig roots, which of course needed to be done in a mirror and by shoving yourself in between the pipes. So...

Oh i completely understand why you would burn wood for heat, I'm installing a wood stove myself right now in between chemo. I'm just very impressed with the neat and orderly stacking in dedicated wood sheds, most guys i know just use a splitter and make a huge pile, then use a loader to move it...

Oh i would never consider selling it, not nearly enough money in it around here, because it's all grunt and no skill (compared to doing a removal or simply going to work). I'm talking 100 bucks a face cord stacked at your back door cheap. I guess if i had a huge wood processor that would be one...

Oh i get it, several here are the same way, including hopefully me soon. I just can't hardly imagine stacking it all that many times! Around here most will split up a huge pile, maybe tarp it, and then use a loader to move it around as needed. The fancy ones use the tote containers, or get...

    The Official Work Pictures Thread

On construction jobs like that, most places don't care if your grab some firewood, honestly if you talk to the crew ahead of time and bring a case of beer or two (or steaks, donuts, etc), you usually can have them cut to trailer length and loaded on your trailer while you are off doing your job...

Yup, but different causes. Stiction is more heat and shearing of the oil, grease is usually from contamination. The injectors in modern diesels have some insane conditions, and the advancements of oils has been directly driven by that. My 96 7.3 would run happily on 15 45 dino (especially with...

    The Official Work Pictures Thread

Stiction is basically oil breaking down and forming a thick sticky substance that makes stuff hang up and not work. Many injectors don't ever truly get flushed out with new oil, so the old stuff just stays there and gets broken down. Molybdenum additives restore lubrication to the hpop...

I would look really hard into getting a shim kit for the injectors rather than paying money to "rebuild" them. There really isn't a way to rebuild them right, because the seat for the needle is what's worn, and machining the body won't fix it either. Getting brand new injectors does actually...
