    Choir and orchestra performances tonight. Hauled my first load. The whole trunk minus the 20' wildlife habitat snag in the background. 7x12'...I can turn my mini around in it. Easy to load two machines side by side. Can push my new chipper into it, if I ever need to.

    That has been a standard bucking cut, more or less, for a long time here in the PNW.     Yes. I do this same thing to prevent barberchairs and to slide off sizable/ machine-handleable/ millable maple logs. All kerfs, no face. Basically leaving a square/rectangular peg of central holding wood that gets 'Coos Bay'-ed off.
