    How'd it go today?

Day started nicely - sun coming up over the lake… first of our children arrived here and the rest arrive this evening. First time all five children and their families will be together since three winters ago. Excited to share this special place with the younger grandchildren who have never been...

Thought as much. Imagine trying to fell a tree like that, with that amount of jeopardy, with next to no idea what you’re doing.

🤣 were were already talking about the intake boot. You’re right though. Too busy too hurry too shorthand Here’s long hand that coincidentally just popped up https://opeforum.com/threads/husqvarna-357-359-repair-thread.9722/

I completely agree with @flushcut, @davidwyby, and @Marc-Antoine. It is pure ignorant foolishness.

I think that practice is seldom followed here, anymore. Was common several decades ago.

It's thought that the slanted cut lives a stop behind the trunk's base to prevent it falling backward, like would a prop made out of a beam. But it's completely delusional, there's zero advantage about it, only potential or real problems.

Well...there ain't an exhaust boot, or any other boot I know of, so... ....I think it's kind of a pain to get at, maybe easier to remove cyl. Whole top end comes off as an assembly on a husky...good time to do a base gasket delete.

I have tried and tried and cannot find a use for it other than crane picks. I actually tested it once on an already down log. Thick hinge and sloped back cut...enough wedge pounding, and sure enough, blew the back of the stump off. If you're very felling uneducated I guess it seems like the...

What is it with that sloping back cut? I see it from time to time, does it have any merit anywhere, anytime? @Burnham

Looking again on full screen desktop. Sure enough. Cut most of the hinge off. Only hairs left -and the sloping back cut pried/levered/skidded it fwd. If they had enough hinge and a level back cut, they would have only gotten pinched, not lost it over backward. EDIT Better yet, a slightly low...

A 4’ and a 5’. Both 10-15’ of straight wood. Root balls....probably erosion control. Right now they are preventing cracking. One day I may clean one and turn a giant bowl.

Slab tables, maybe decking etc. is the plan. Non lumber parts firewood of course.

French-Canadian is my guess. But actually pulling on the line would have helped immensely. Just playing devils advocate here but maybe it was an insurance fraud thing. Owner hires Meth Mouth Tree to do the job, set it up to look like an accident, but intentionally put the tree on the house...
