Treesansdurf, nope it doesn't. it willl stay right where you put in. Only way it might move further is if you lock one rope instead of both and the rope slides in your hand.

Greg, I have seen variations of that and used some as well, pretty nifty. They all work as you know, I guess it just depends on what works for you and if the application fits.
 
Used this trick today, works really well. Also on another tree just had to remove several epicormics about twenty feet up so set a line in the top and then pulled the system up that high and footlocked up and clipped right it. Sweet!

Thanks Frans. looks like someone already had one going at one time. I just brought it back up.
 
If I am following this right, you can use the other end of your climbing line in leu of the second climbing line. Then drop the end to the ground and tie in. yes no?

Sure if it is long enough to double up. That would work on short jaunt. Nice idea. One of the reason for the second rope is to set for access.

Hmmm ...you just gave me a cool idea...:D
