I recognized the irony. The difficulty is the lost jobs. A major US or Canadian manufacturer with a brand name shifts production overseas and slips the "new" offshore version into the catalog. As they generally watch the quality control, the quality is likely to be nearly as good as the local manufactured products. There may be a small price savings to us. There is always a cost savings to the manufacturer. Jobs are the issue. For the last few years, where possible, I buy the US version.
