How'd it go today?

Spent the day working on the big white oak, got about a quarter of it brushed out and slammed the logs down before the crane got there, then the boss showed up hollering about not getting enough done fast enough. I should have just quit right then. Instead I kept at it and I'll be finishing it up tomorrow. Hopefully we are done and out of there by 1 or so. I just can't stand it when they aren't there, never done it themselves, and still want to complain about how is being done and how long it's taking

Welcome to the club Nic...

Humming along great today...finishing up #7 of 10 trees today and in whips boss at 3:30...guys are tired...flying around, changing things up...grabs rope from groundy "here just tie the 'F" up like this and get it the "f" up there fast, gotta go fast!...while I leisurely pulled up the line and shook my head for about 2 minutes untying the mess I yell to my ground guy "don't sent this crap up here again...tie the knot I taught you this morning, I don't care how long or how many tries is takes, I just want you doing it the way I've taught you"....I'm pissed now and boss is leaving...good riddance.

Him being there for 10 minutes pissed off my whole crew for the rest of the afternoon.

Had the guys upset enough that they dropped a stub on the only trim saw we had that ran (Just bent up the bar but useless for the day now)...I hooked on my 441 and finished the last 2 trees in an hour rigging them out myself and left...had six guys dragging brush when I drove out to go home.

Except for the bosses visit, it was a great day, crew kicked butt, the guy I'm teaching to run ropes is doing super good for never doing it before...probably the quickest learner I've ever worked with and a hell of a worker.

It started raining just as I got in my truck to leave...:)

Good shots Rich.

Mick: Enjoyed yours on Work pics.

Small but VERY heavy Blue Spruces today. Painful brush drags.

Day off today. Nice leisurely breakfast at the restaurant, came home to packages on the porch from the usps.

Picked up my new-to-me pick-up from the garage and came home to UPS packages on porch...

I should go somewhere and come home again...it's like Christmas...

Here's a gratuitous combine shot for FFZ. Boss was blowing the beans out getting ready to put the corn head on. (Not me or the boss in the picture).

IMG_20151009_153402.jpg Got premium gas at 89 cents/ L from a gas station closing up then found a treestuff geocache up the road from me today, who woulda thunk it?!?!

Rigged out the wood from those two big oaks today in the rain. Should've brought a bunch of those Popsicles in the tubes for the porty. Went bigger than we should've and glazed the heck outta the rope. It was getting pretty wore out anyhow so we sent it out with a bang. Got one down before the rain hit and that's when we glazed it.

I dont know for sure. Part of it i guess is the population loss. The old town fathers must have been proud as hell to get a school built. Now it is empty. I can see the kids playing in the yard and now it is empty. I can imagine the country kids coming to town and getting a hot lunch and now the cafeteria is empty. I can imagine the gym being full for a ball game with parents nad kids coming to town to watch the game, now it is empty.

Yes, i am a sentimental old fool!
