    best 3/8 lo pro chain

Only thing to add about longer bars and LP chain ................ that chassis has been known to fail. I modded a 24" to run PS3 on an electric pole saw, and in a crotch, it broke. Since then, it runs a 16" without problems ............... just hate that its manual oiling only

    Piston color

Its normal ........ I would richen up my oil ratio though, I like a nice wet film on my pistons when looking at them

    Sears 3.3 (54cc)

Thanks !! At first glance, I thought it was to a nipple in the case under the jug for the impulse ........ :big-no: Thats what I get for looking quickly - I will find the black impulse when I pull it apart.

    Sears 3.3 (54cc)

I thought Pic #1 in post #13 shows the impulse, not black, but clearish ........ all of the lines are cracked in several places !! I havent allowed it to sit on the ground, it was like that already ...got the saw from a customs holding facility. All of my saws hang in the air... thinking of...

    Sears 3.3 (54cc)

Chainsawr pegs it as a Poulan made for Craftsman, and does have some parts for it available labeled as such. That removeable cylinder is the only reason I took it. Magnus, the only numbers are on the sticker on the top cover (first picture in post #12)

    Sears 3.3 (54cc)

    Sears 3.3 (54cc)

Sticker calls for 1/2 pint (8oz) to a gallon (128oz) .............. thats 16:1 !!!! Is this due to the unlined cylinder with a chromed piston ??

I owe you an apology. Its been just about a year since you asked me for some more pics of this thing. I have no excuse to offer, as I wont make up a story, I just plain old let it slip my every shrinking mind. I am sorry !! OK, so 1 year later - here we go .........

    What Does Porting Really Mean?

Sorry Al, cant hear ya !!! Used to use a few "yellow turds" the whole summer as a teenager .................. my problem is that now, no matter what I am cutting - if I bring out any McCulloch saws, they make my vision blurry, even with ear plugs !!!

    What Does Porting Really Mean?

Thanks Boss ................. coming from you - that means ALOT !!!!

    What Does Porting Really Mean?

IMHO, that all depends on what saw you are talking about. Personally, I have opened up some ports without altering the timing numbers (except of course port time/area) and seen a HUGE gain in performance (like an 038 Magnum) ................ and I have done the same thing on a different saw and...

    What Does Porting Really Mean?

When you port a saw, or do a MM, you are actually just increasing the volume of air the saw can pump through its internals, then the autotune is adding additional fuel to keep the fuel/air ratio in a state that allows more power without too much heat, so the piston/cylinder/rings do not get too...

    Stihl parts help.

IIRC, I also lost between 3 and 4 inches from whatever bar I was using with the Baileys spikes ........ less bar is lost with the "R" spikes from Stihl. I even cut off the lowest spike from the Baileys ones in an attempt to keep them ............. they kept the saw crooked when on the ground...

    Bad chainsaw habits

HA ha !! Will do !! Lady Gaga eh ???

    Stihl parts help.

IMHO, the ones from Baileys are so big, that they are too big ! I have a few holes in my leg from using them, and they are so sharp that my saw actually used to routinely get stuck. They bored in and wouldnt let go, making me shut off the saw, pry them out and re-start the saw ......... thats...
