Does anyone know where I can get this black tree-saver sleeve material? It comes on the Grillion lanyard, the A.R.T. Positioner lanyard, and the Rockgrab lanyard. The local Sherrill store says it's not sold separately, and Petzl direct said the same.

It has a stretchy accordion nature that allows you to position it perfectly on the branch based on how firmly you pull on the rope. Really nice to have in sappy pines.

wouldn't any webbing sling be useable for that as its not part of the weight support system? I had a Grillion with the stock lanyard and got a replacement one from Nick, I forget what I did with the original one.

You can also check at your local hydraulic supply house. It looks a lot like the protective sleeve material you can slide over hydraulic hoses.

I actually got a piece of the hydraulic hose sleeve at Vermeer. The material seems to be the same, but it doesn't have that springy characteristic, so it's much harder to keep it "centered" over the branch, if you know what I mean. I can check with other supply houses. Good tip, thanks!

The black chafe sleeve on a Grillon is not actually springy - it just looks that way because it gets bunched up so much. It is made out of cordura though, which is a lot tougher than nylon. Unfortunately, I don't have a good source for this small diameter tubular cordura webbing. The only kind I have at Wesspur fit up to 3/4" line, which is way too big on a 1/2" or 7/16" lanyard.

Sean, "chafe sleeve" is a perfect description for this item. Here is a pix of the original 1/2" sleeve I'm still using from 2 years ago. It is 22" long and you can stretch it to 26", then when you let go, it goes back to 22". It was bunchy and stretchy when I got it.

The other stuff is 3/4 -1", comes flat. It will bunch up, but has none of the springy quality, and goes back flat if you smooth it out. In fact, you can see pine pitch on the short flat piece. The original stuff holds its memory, which makes a night/day difference in trying to line it up on a branch. The flat stuff, you pretty much have to position with your hands. The bunchy stuff you can position from a distance just by varying pressure on the lanyard, which is nice if you have a long lanyard.

Here's another item I'm looking for.

The little release lanyard on the Wichard quick-release snap shackle, used on the Big Shot. Mine is just about to break. I've been looking; also have left repeated messages on the Wichard USA website email and Contact Us phone number. A seemingly easy thing to just pick up somewhere. The local West Marine couldn't find it.

I have a spare sitting here - the original red thread style; PM me your address if you'd like it.
I'd use one braided from three strands of Zing-It, as it would likely be stronger and holds up well.
That's also what I use for replacing the snare on the Toss splicing wand loops, ever since seeing Nick's video:

PM sent. Great idea on 3 strands of throwline. Full throwline is too big. Not sure my fingers and eyes can handle that. Nick. . . help???
